Robert Jerome Green
AIKEN - Msgt Robert Jerome "Jerry" Green, USA Ret., 73, beloved husband of Beverly Batton Green, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born in Bennettsville, SC, Jerry was a son of the late Silas Allen Green and Lorene Shiver Green. He grew up in the Quitman, GA area. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force and retired from the South Carolina Air National Guard after 28 years of military service. He served tours in Vietnam twice, the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Singapore, West Germany and in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. He was also a railway mechanic and conductor and retired from CSX Transportation in Augusta. He was a former Water Commissioner for College Acres for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Beverly; his daughter, Jennifer Green, both of Aiken; his Yorkie, Bella; grand-kittens, Lucky and Lucy and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rochelle Green Goodman; brothers, Allen Wright Green, Steven Lee Green; niece, Caresa Green Johnson; nephew, Darryl Goodman.
A graveside service will be held Monday afternoon, April 12th at 4 o'clock in Southlawn Cemetery with The Rev. Kevin Liles officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 9 o'clock until 2 o'clock in the afternoon to pay respects.
Memorial contributions may be directed to a favorite charity.
