Robert Bean, Jr.
AIKEN - Robert "Bob" Bean, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was called home to be with his Savior on August 24, 2025. Born in Fairview, Alabama, Bob grew up on a farm, where he developed a strong work ethic, a deep appreciation for nature and gardening, both of which would stay with him throughout his life.
A talented athlete, Bob lettered in all high school sports, showcasing his competitive spirit and dedication. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that instilled in him values of discipline and service.
Bob went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry after receiving a full athletic scholarship playing his favorite sport, basketball. This paved the way for a successful career as a Nuclear Materials Lab Director for E. I. DuPont. For his technical excellence and leadership on laboratory issues of chemistry and nuclear waste disposal, Mr Bean received numerous meritorious service awards. His professional achievements were matched only by his commitment to his community, where he devoted many hours coaching Little League baseball and youth basketball, inspiring young athletes with his passion for the game.
A devoted member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church, Bob served as both an Elder and Deacon, again embodying both the spirit of service and leadership. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all of his personal and professional relationships, as well as his community involvement.
Bob will also be warmly remembered for his good-natured sense of humor and his ability to connect with everyone he met. We jokingly called him our family's "social butterfly" because he never met a stranger. He had a passion for gardening, fishing, Atlanta Braves baseball, college football (Roll Tide), and playing basketball, but above all, he cherished the time spent with his family. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was evident in every moment they shared, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Annette, and we take comfort knowing they are home and reunited together with Our Lord and Savior. Left to cherish his memory are a son, David Bean (Pam), daughter Debra (Scott) and granddaughters Meredith Bean and Ainsley Landmann.
Our Father's life was a testament to his love of Jesus, kindness, discipline, honor, dedication, and joy. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we celebrate his life, we find comfort in the memories he created and the love he shared, knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with a visitation starting at 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM. The Rev. Jason Hammersley is officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Bethany Cemetery.
