Robert (Bob) Baris
AIKEN, SC - Robert (Bob) Baris, age 90, entered into rest on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Baris was born April 7, 1926 in the Bronx, New York to the late Salvatore and Concetta Baris. Bob received his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. Bob had been a resident of Aiken, SC for over twenty years, working at TRW and Westinghouse. He was an Eucharistic Minister of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mildred; two sons, Stephen Baris (wife Karen), of Little Rock, AR; Michael Baris (wife Sharon) of Olney, MD; three Grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, and Andrew; and a sister, Adia Ciferri, of New York. His Great Grandsons are Reza and Kortez Lowlavar of Olney, MD.
During their many years together, Bob and Millie and family lived in Ohio, New Hampshire, Mass., Maryland, California and South Carolina. He was a Docent with the Church in Washington, DC and in CA.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the old historic St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, 125 Park Ave. SE, Aiken. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery. A reception will be held at noon at the Smith Hall at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Maryknoll Father's and Brother's, PO Box 302, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0302, their favorite charities.
