AIKEN, SC - Mr. Robert (Bob) Ausnehmer, 90, beloved husband of Betty Barr Ausnehmer, died Saturday, March 18, 2017.
A native of Youngstown, OH, Bob was a son of the late Fred H. and Margaret E. Ausnehmer. He lived in Aiken, SC since October 2005. He was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. Bob worked in the Panama Canal Zone, first as a police officer and then as a Powerhouse Control Operator, retiring after 32 years of service. He was also a WWII Navy Veteran.
Survivors beside his wife, are step-sons James A. Barr Sr., Peter J. Barr, Jr., Sean (Charity) A. Barr, Wanda Barr, loving ex-daughter-in-law, six step-grandsons, one step-granddaughter, two great-granddaughters, all of Aiken; three cousins, Mary Hollowell, Dotham, AL, Ida Gifford, Orem, UT and Margaret Edwards, Cedar Hill, UT.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Earl Barr (surviving wife Mary Lee), Victoria, TX. He had many interests.
Bob was an avid golfer, saltwater fisherman, expert marksman, a Mason in the Canal Zone, he enjoyed flying his plane, and was a Ham radio operator. Bob loved people and many social events, especially going to church.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Millbrook Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Dunn and the Rev. Donald Pope officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
