Richard Szasz Obituary
Aiken - A celebration of life service for Mr. Richard Martin Szasz age 76 will be held 3:00 pm Thursday December 22, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Brancie Stephens and Rev. Bobby Grover officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the U.S. Air Force ceremonial team. Pallbearers will be Brian Grover, Jason Grover, Kevin Blackwell, Thomas Nichols, Cody Farmer, and Lynn Salley.
Mr. Szasz was born in Cedar Grove, West Virginia and had made Aiken County his home for the past 68 years. He was the beloved husband of 48 years to Mrs. Lola Grover Szasz of Aiken and a son of the late Mr. James G. Szasz and the late Mrs. Barbara Martin Hill. Mr. Szasz was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served his Lord faithfully in many ways, including as a Deacon, sound booth technician, and in Vacation Bible School. He worked for Walmart as a security guard for twenty years, where he retired.
Additional survivors include: one daughter Melissa Szasz (Keith) Clerc, Warrenville, SC; one sister Amy Szasz (Billy) Trull, Mt. Holly, NC; and two grandchildren Jacob and Jackson Clerc. The family would like to express our deepest thanks to Trinity Hospice for the wonderful care Richard received from all the staff. A visitation with the family will take place one hour prior to service at Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2168, Aiken, SC, 29802.
