Richard Newsome Obituary

Jackson, SC- Graveside Services for Richard Leon Newsome, 81, who entered into rest August 4, 2025, will be conducted Friday morning at 10 o'clock, in Jackson Memorial Park, Dr. Mark Riser and Dr. E. Finley Limehouse officiating. Mr. Newsome was born July 15, 1944, in Hartsville, SC to the late Robert and Marie Newsome. He served his country in the Georgia National Guard. Mr. Newsome retired from a career as a rigger at the Savannah River Site after over 25 years of service. He was a member of Heights Baptist Church, the Jackson Lions Club and active with the Silver Bluff Athletics Booster Club. Mr. Newsome loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Survivors include his two daughters, Kimberly Mace (Jeremy) and Kelly Dobson (Phillip); son, Steven Newsome (Christy); nine grandchildren, Lee Newsome (Cassidy), Shelby Boan (Trevor), Sarah Kwiatkowski, Brody Allen (Sabrina), Grace Smith (Joel), Raegen Long (Riley), Noah Mace, Jordan Dobson and Avery Dobson; 12 great grandchildren; wife, Kathryn Newsome. Memorials may be made to Silver Bluff Athletics Booster Club, PO Box 191, Jackson, SC 29831.
