Richard Green Obituary

Mr. Richard Aldean "Rick" Green, Jr., affectionately known as "RAG", beloved husband of nearly fifty years to Willie Wood Green, entered into rest on Monday, September 8, 2025, while in the comfort of his home. A lifelong area resident and the son of the late Richard Aldean, Sr., and Ann Powell Green, Rick graduated from Strom Thurmond High School in 1974. While attending Strom Thurmond, he played football. At the age of fifteen, he started dating the true love of his life, the former Willie Wood. Rick and Willie were married on July 3, 1976, and out of this union, two beautiful young ladies, the former Lindsay and Katie Green, were born. Rick proudly and with honor served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Rick believed in working hard to meet the needs of his family. He had several successful businesses, including Green's Food Market. The needs of his family always came first and foremost. Rick enjoyed a "dogfight" with the boys on Sundays at Persimmon Hill Golf Club. He also enjoyed fishing as well as Carolina and Clemson football. Rick is greatly missed, and his memory will remain eternal in the hearts of his wife, Willie Wood Green, his girls, Lindsay (Ray) McManus and Katie (Ryan) Fletcher, grandchildren, Lennon McManus, Sean McManus, Morgan Nunez, Olivia Fletcher and Rickie Fletcher, siblings, Tina Black and Vicky Hendley, as well as other relatives and friends. Friends will be greeted by the family on Friday, September 12, 2025, beginning at 9 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 10 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Dexter Lambert will officiate. A United States Air Force Honor Guard will render veterans' Honors. Memorials in memory of RAG may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. (www.stjude.org)

Earlier today

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Ricky, he was one of my dad's best friends they would talk on the phone just about every day! He was always a shoulder to lean on for my family! He used to tell me I was the salt of the earth (-= One day I was cooking brownies, and Ricky walked in the kitchen as I was getting them out of the oven. He ate one and from then on, he started calling me "Brownie"!! He was a great man, and he will definitely be missed!!! We are keeping the family in our thoughts and prayers.
