Ralph Hayes Obituary
AIKEN - Mr. Ralph Hayes, age 78, of 413 Gilbert Street, entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Carlyle Senior Care of Aiken. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday January 18, 2019 at Jackson-Brooks Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; Evan and Albirta Hayes; sister, Mary Annette Hayes; brothers, Evan and Joseph E. Hayes; while leaving to cherish his memory; his loving wife, Patricia J. Hayes; daughter, Kimberly J. Collier; sister, Patricia Hayes Patterson (Eugene); grandchildren, Monty and Caree; other relatives and loving friends.
Ralph graduated from Martha Schofield in the Class of 1959. He received his BS degree from Claflin College in 1965. Ralph was a veteran on the US Army and worked at Savannah River Site and he was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7 PM Thursday.
Friends may call the residence or JACKSON-BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, 126 Fairfield Street SE., Aiken, SC 29801 @ 803-649-6123 from 3-8 PM Thursday.

Ralph is missed! He was truly committed to the community and others over many years. He was a role model to us during our high school days. He exemplified leadership and decisiveness during social incidents that involved us as youth around Smith-Hazel. He was socially conscious and committed to making a change. While in his latter years, due to personal challenges, the greatness and strength in him that many of us experienced, remained. I remember visiting him in his last days, though ill, his strength was still evident. He gave himself for the betterment of all during critical times of unrest. I will always remember that.
