Phillip Lee Obituary

Phillip Lee, Jr.
AIKEN - Mr. Phillip James Lee, Jr., 29, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018.
Phillip was born in Dillon SC, a son of Phillip James and Terry Rickenbacker Lee of Aiken. He moved to Aiken in 1999, and eventually received a Bachelors Degree from Augusta State University. Phillip was loved immeasurably by God, his family and countless other people.
He was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was a star athlete at Aiken High School serving as quarterback of the football team and pitcher on the baseball team. He was drawn to music during that time, teaching himself to play the guitar while sitting at home in front of the computer. He began to lead worship at Cedar Creek Church in the youth area as a student volunteer.
Phillip had a magnetic personality. He was capable of playing music from any genre, in any venue. He used his gift as an authentic and transparent worship leader as well as entertainer in the Aiken-Augusta community across the Southeast and in various locations on the West Coast.
Phillip's greatest God-given gift was in connecting with the lost and hurting, on and off the stage.
His music will live in our hearts forever.
He is singing now at the feet of Jesus. In addition to his parents, Phillip is survived by his siblings, Rick Lee, Emily Lee, Ben Lee, and Katelyn Lee; paternal grandparents, Lucian R. Lee and Emily B. Lee. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dr. John H. and Sue Ellen Fowler Rickenbacker.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM Monday, September 10, 2018 at Cedar Creek Church, Banks Mill Campus, and a Celebration of Life will begin at 6:00 PM with the Reverend David Hardy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to Penfield Christian Homes, 1061 Mercer Cir, Union Point, GA 30669, or Cedar Creek Church, in honor of Celebrate Recovery, Care and Counseling Ministry, 3001 Banks Mill Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.

It hit me hard to learn Phillip, Jr. was no longer living on earth. Our families were together for a few years at North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. My children knew your children for a brief number of years. My daughter, Katelyn, and Phillip were born the same year, being the same age. They were together in many activities within NTBC.
Phillip, you and your family were influential to us while at NTBC and greatly admired. Today, I want you to know I am praying for you and your family to experience God's peace and comfort, only He can give. My prayers for you will continue in days, months and years to come, until Jesus raptures His church and we, His bride, dwell with Jesus in our Heavenly homes.

I had the privilege and pleasure to meet Phillip at my home group a few years ago. He played his guitar and sang for us, a home group of women all in our 50's and 60's. It was a beautiful group meeting lead by a beautiful soul. My deepest sympathy to his family. Rest in peace Phillip Lee Jr.

My first year as a media specialist at AIKEN High was Phillip's senior year. My daughter was a sophomore who moved from South AIKEN to be with me. We didn't really know others there because we had driven 45 mikes to AIKEN since she was small. Phillip came into the library every Friday of a home football game and always talked to my daughter and to me. He made us feel welcomed and important. He was a.very special welcoming to AIKEN High. We are blessed to have known him. He was a kind and gentle young man who will always be remembered for his kindness.
