Philip G. “Rufus” Brown

He will never laugh, smile, joke and show compassion on the soil of this earth again.
His mark is lasting, because our friend brought so much joy to our teenage years!
Philip was bigger than life! His laughter will forever echo in the halls of Grifton High.

Hey, “Rufus” Brown, see you in that study hall in the sky. Thank you for showing so many of us a way to have more fun! I think that “deep down laughter” has stayed with us for so long. Without a doubt, you left your special gift with us and we are grateful!

I am deeply sorry to hear of Phillips passing. He and his family lived next door to us, on Pitt Street, in Grifton for years. They were wonderful neighbors. Phillip was a few years ahead of me in school, but he was loved by everyone who knew him...he always had a smile on his face and he made you happy being around him. He brought laughter and light into a room. God be with Phillip and his family.

Our thoughts go out to Paula and family. Phillip will surely be missed by many but his memory will live on for a long time to come by friends from many walks of life. I only knew the "car side" of Phillip but I know there were many other sides to Phillip. He would always brighten up any group and always lend an ear when you had something to say. He used to call me "Killer", not sure why. It always made me smile and still does when I reflect on that. Paula, you and Phillip welcomed us into your home for those wonderful fish frys and we always felt right at home. Phillip was a gracious and unique individual, just fun to be around. I feel lucky to have been able to call Phillip my friend.
