Phil Stanley Collins
Aiken - PHIL STANLEY COLLINS, 72, beloved husband of Susan Purcell Collins, passed away suddenly Monday, January 4, 2021 while passing through Greenville, Alabama.
A native of Branchville, SC, Phil was a son of the late Claffy W. and Lily Marie Wimberly Collins. He graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and was a proud member of IPTAY. He lived in Aiken since 1991 and worked at the Savannah River Site, retiring from Bechtel. Phil was a member of Cedar Creek Church, Banks Mill Campus and was currently attending New Spring Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Susan, are his children, Jennifer Corbett (Kendell), Aiken, Ashley Hallman, Aiken, Garrett Dier (Maggie), Baton Rouge, LA, Bradley Dier (Shannon), Angleton, TX; grandchildren, Kelly Kattan (Jeremy), Austin Adams, Kamaryn Corbett, Kayden Corbett, Kensley Corbett, Cameron Hayes, Trey Dier, Jackson Hankinson, Mayson Hankinson; brothers, David Collins (Henrietta), Charleston, SC, Harry Collins (Linda), Branchville, SC; sister, Vianna Snelgrove (Jerry), Rowesville, SC.
In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by two sons, Phil Stanley Collins, Jr., Trey Dier; two brothers, Wallace Collins, L. C. Collins; two sisters, Dolly Metts, Vida Mae Dantzler.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, January 7th from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be Friday morning, January 8th at 11 o'clock at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Steelman officiating. Interment will follow at 3 o'clock in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery, Branchville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association (heart.org) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
