Paul F. Beard

Paul F. Beard, age 96, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, in Wyoming, MI. He previously resided for many years on his farm near Edmore. He was born August 13, 1916, to Floyd and Ivah (Foley) Beard in Crystal Twp., MI. He married Lucille F. (Hunt) on September 18, 1938. Lucille preceded him in death on September 21, 2004.
Paul attended Michigan State College in East Lansing until he was assigned as a civilian engineer doing design work related to aircraft projects during W.W.II. He continued that career after the war, working on various military related projects. He later worked as a design engineer in the automotive industry and retired from Lobdell-Emery in 1982.
Paul's interests included photography, collecting rocks, and travel. The highlight of his travel adventures was the trip to Alaska he and Lucille took after his retirement. He was a member of the Ferris Church of Christ in Vestaburg for many years.
Paul is survived by his sons, Larry and wife, Judy of West Palm Beach, FL, Michael and wife, Carol of Jenison, MI, Timothy and wife, Sarah of Thorndale, TX; and daughter, Pamela and husband, Phillip Zarger of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Kenneth Beard, James Beard, and Sharolyn (Beard) Hildebrant of FL, Thomas Beard, Jeffrey (Lisa) Beard, and Michele (Beard) Blake (Dan) of MI, Shelley (Zarger) Hoard (Mike) and Troy Zarger (Rocio) of GA; step-grandchildren, Jon (Lisa) Newton, Jason (Joetta) Newton, Nikki Newton Cottrell (Matt), and George (Julie) Newton Jr. of TX. He also leaves behind several great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; two brothers, Mark (Phylis) of Louisiana and Floyd Jr. (Doris) of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irene and Ruth; brothers, Loyal Sr., Gerald, Theo, and Otto.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 18, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson St., Edmore, MI. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Ferris Church of Christ, Vestaburg, MI. Viewing will precede the Service from 1 to 2 p.m. (1 hour prior to the service) at the Ferris Church. Graveside Services will follow in Ferris Twp. Cemetery, Vestaburg.
