Nellie Hankinson Obituary

Nellie Key Hankinson
WARRENVILLE, SC - Nellie Key Hankinson, age 90, of Warrenville, S.C., wife of the late Oliver Ray Hankinson and youngest daughter of the late Horace Key and the late Unity Holley Key and stepmother, Bessie B. Key, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 22, 2015.
She is survived by her daughters; Joyce Mathis of Crestview, FL., Gail (Joel) Player of West Columbia, S.C., Eileen Powers and Kay Kitchings (special friend, Richard Johnson) of Warrenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Gay, Joy, Greg, Karen, Steve, Bert, Lawton, Sharon and Gabriel; fifteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Glenice Key of Warrenville, S.C.; two special friends, Joanne and Frank Ellis and Agape Hospice Caregivers, who were her angels on earth. She was preceded in death by a son, Otis Hankinson; brothers, Clemson, Cecil and Leslie Key; a sister,
Florede Smith.
She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. She retired from Graniteville Company with 33 years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Pentecost United Methodist Church, where she served on the worship committee, sang in the choir and was vice president of the UMU. Death had a momentary victory as she passed from this world into the Heavenly Realms of Glory. Never again will she know discouragement, sorrow or weakness for now she is safe at home in the arms of Jesus. All her hopes and expectations are present realities beyond all she could dream or imagine. She is now receiving what God has prepared for those who love Him. For her, life is just beginning. We will miss our Mother, Nanny and friend.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, March 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service, celebrating her life and homegoing, will be held at Pentecost United Methodist Church in Warrenville, S.C. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Joe Lusk officiating, assisted by layperson, Mike Sheehan. The interment will follow at the church cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Terry Earnest, Curtis O'Banion, Bruce Turner, Tony Redd, Freddie Busbee and Bubba Toole.
Memorials may be made to the Pentecost United Methodist Church, 2485 Pine Log Rd., Warrenville, S.C. 29851. Napier Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Main St., Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
