Mildred Reid
Columbia - Mildred Louise Miles Reid went home to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday August 29, 2018. She was born September 21, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Willie Edward and Daisy Parker Miles. Originally from Columbia, SC she was currently living in Wagener, SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James S. Reid, Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" L. Reid; sister, Willie Shumpert; and son-in-law, Tim Driggers. Mrs. Reid is survived by her sister, Vera Graddick of Blythewood, SC; her children, Karen Reid McGrady of West Columbia, James Steve Reid, Jr. (Katie) of Wagener, SC, Sharon Reid Driggers (late Tim) of Gaston, SC; former son-in-law, Sonny McGrady and daughter-in-law, Cheramy Reid. Mrs. Reid's "family" remained that way throughout her life. Other survivors include grandchildren, Christopher Reid of Columbia, SC, Connor McGrady of West Columbia, Kaitlyn Walker (Stephen) of Lexington, SC, Jess Driggers of Newnan, GA, Tiffany Boozer (Robert) and Josh Reid of Wagener, SC; great granddaughter, Savannah Walker of Lexington, SC; great grandchildren, Carson and Aubree Boozer of Wagener, S.C., along with many other nieces and nephews plus extended family members.
The family will receive friends & family at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia on Friday August 31st from 5 until 7 p.m. with the funeral service for Mrs. Reid to be held on Saturday September 1st at 11 a.m. at New Life Baptist Church, 2825 Ashland Road, Columbia, with the Reverend John Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Plante and Dr. James Givens for their guidance and support through this difficult time and all of the employees and staff of Agape Hospice House on Stoneridge Drive. The love, care and compassion shown by her wonderful nurses, Tamara, LaTosha, Terri, and Angel, during her short stay there, along with all of the employees and staff, was beyond compare.
