Michael Edward St. Clair
AIKEN, SC - Michael Edward St. Clair, "Mr. Mike", age 70, of Aiken, SC died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 after an extended battle with leukemia. He was born February 27, 1946 on Long Island, NY. He is proceeded in death by his parents Carney Edward and Shirley Heid St. Clair. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly St. Clair Shimkus, grandchildren James Shimkus and Caroline Shimkus, from Buford, GA, brother David St. Clair and his wife Sally, of Micanopy, FL, and sister Sharon Pollock and her husband Henry of Tallahassee, FL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael graduated from Kings College, Wilkes Barre, PA and attended graduate school at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. His 30 year career was in hospital and long term care administration.
He was the CFO and Administrator of New Riviera Health Resort in Coral Gables, FL. New Riviera was owned by the St. Clair family for more than 40 years until Michael sold the nursing home and retired to Aiken, SC in 1998. He became active in the community and enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, gardening and working on his 150 acre farm. He was a member of the Shaws Creek and Guinyard Hunting Clubs.
Michael loved to entertain! His home and property was a local hub for friends and neighbors as well as a favorite destination for family holidays with his family throughout the southeast.
