Michael Bryant Obituary
Michael Lynn Bryant, 68, of Belvedere, SC, entered into rest on Monday, September 22, 2025, while in the comfort of his home. The world knew him as Mike and I knew him as dad.
My dad was born in Beckley, WV, and was the only child of Violet Maxine Wickline Bryant and the late Shelby Bryant. My grandmother would agree that my father was the only son she could handle in this life to which we can all hear his roaring laugh in agreement.
My father was a proud veteran of the United States Army, earning his rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded many awards and medals for his very honorable and meritorious service time including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, and Sharpshooter Medal. He loved the United States Army and he loved his Country.
What my father would want you to know is how much he loved life, there wasn't a day that went by when the pictures were not being shaken on the wall by his uproarious laugh. He would text me like clockwork to check on me after a snowstorm or bad weather wherever I was. He loved his family and his friends. My father was a network of support to everyone he met. He taught me to be a gentleman and hold doors for ladies. My father was kind. My father was accepting. My father never met a stranger. My father's arms and home were open to anyone and everyone who needed a smile, a meal or a laugh... and that laugh will never be forgotten.
My father had the need for speed, which is how he lived his life. He loved NASCAR and fast cars. Sundays and race days were a day of gathering and community at his house. There wasnt a galaxy or galactic speed that my father had not visited thanks to Star Trek. He taught me what a tribble was and how to do a Vulcan Salute before I could talk. My father left a lasting impression on anyone brave enough to listen to his life stories.
My dad, Mike Bryant is survived by the woman he gave his entire heart to, his mother Violet Bryant, and myself Heath Bryant-Huppert (along with my husband Joe who he loved and treated as his own son since the day they met). But it has to be mentioned that the village and tribe formed by his heart and THAT laugh, was also his family and he would have had it no other way.
Honoring his wishes my father asked for no service and no "fuss", so please take a minute and remember Mike as the man he was and the friend who will always watch over your shoulder and giggle with you.
Considering his love for animals, memorials in Mike's memory may be made to the Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare. (www.letlovelive.org)
