Melissa Moody
Graniteville - Mrs. Melissa Smith Moody, 48, of Graniteville, SC, beloved wife of thirty-two years to Donald O'Neal Moody, Jr., entered into rest on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Bennett, Jr and Ida Mae Widener Smith. A self-proclaimed "Domestic Engineer" for the Moody family, she enjoyed and took pride in taking care of her family. Melissa also enjoyed reading especially horror books, watching horror movies, motorcycle riding with Neal, beach trips to Myrtle Beach and Savannah and most importantly loving and cuddling her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Melissa is survived by her children, Jessica D. Moody Buckingham, Joshua D, Moody and his wife, Crystal, Zachary A. Moody, Teri L. Moody and James Ian Moody, siblings and their spouses, Theresa and Fred Ennis and Veronica and Bob Honick, grandchildren, Greenlie Elise Moody and Aubriegh Mae Buckingham and nephews, Kip Smith and Jason Fields. Also preceding Melissa in death were a daughter, Theresa Eleanor Moody, siblings, Keith Smith and Cynthia Smith "Cindy" Kirk and nephew, Benjamin Ennis.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, beginning at 1 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor Dexter Lambert will officiate. In accordance with her wishes, Melissa will be cremated following the service.
Melissa had requested that memorials in her memory be made to Colontown (www.colontown.org) or the American Cancer Society. (www.cancer.org)
