Mattie Ready Obituary

Mattie Lee Hughes Ready
TRENTON, SC - Mattie Lee Hughes Ready, age 96, of Trenton, S.C., passed away peacefully Thursday, January 27, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Aiken County on August 17, 1919. She was the daughter of the late James Hughes and Oceola Sullivan Woodward. She was a longtime and oldest member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Aiken. She was retired from Graniteville Company.
Survivors include daughters, Margaret Stewart and Vera Ready both of Trenton; a son, Herbert Ready of Trenton; twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Marvin and Wyman Ready; a brother, four sisters and a grandson.
She shall be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched during the 96 years that God granted her on this earth. Death cannot destroy precious memories, and she shall live on forever in the hearts of her many friends and loved ones. She has just made that much deserved transition to her new Heavenly home in a land of endless tomorrows, where the soul will never die and we will never have to say goodbye. Earth's loss is truly Heaven's gain.
A service, celebrating her life and home going will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Dan Johnston and Dr. C.W. Yonce (the Dr. degree he earned just for her) officiating. The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Park in Aiken, S.C. The Pallbearers will be Stan Rodgers, Archie Barkley, Charles Hatcher, John Derrick, Jimmy Preston, Jimmy Jones and Frank Strickland and Lee Bazzle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:30 PM until the hour of service.
