Mary Knox Obituary

Mary Green Knox, affectionately known as Dank, Danky, Granny and Mother Dearest by her family and friends. She was born on March 22,1953 in Barnwell County, South Carolina to the late Charlie Lester Green and Emma Hay Green. She peacefully departed her life on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Aiken Regional Medical Center surrounded by her beloved children. At an early age Danky accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal Savior and joined St. Thomas Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Blackville, South Carolina. Later in life she moved her membership to Four Mile Missionary Baptist Church in New Ellenton, South Carolina. Danky had a love for sports and especially enjoyed playing softball. Known for her competitive spirit, she was never afraid to run over other players to make it around the bases, all while talking plenty of friendly trash along the way. Outside of the game, she found joy in sewing and painting, and she experienced peace in planting and caring for flowers. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories they will carry forever. Danky was preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers Mr. Charlie Green, Mr. Willie Arthur (Bill) Green, Roy Edward Green and one sister Elizabeth Green. Danky leaves to cherish in her memories her husband Richard Knox; a devoted daughter, Teresa Stevens of New Ellenton, SC and two loving sons Talian Green of Aiken, SC and Reverend Stacy (Melissa) Green Warrenville, SC; seven grandchildren Porshe, Wendell Jr., Ruben, Stacy II, Ben, Jillian, and Paris; two bonus granddaughters Shanisa Green and Brandette Green Heath; ten loving and energetic great grandchildren; three brothers William Henry (Carrie) Green, Terry (Janet) Green and Timothy Ureen; one sister Diane Bates and one bonus sister reared in the home Ella Mae Green; a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom will forever cherish her memories.
