Mary Ellen Hickey-Moyse
Aiken - Mary Ellen Hickey-Moyse, wife of George Moyse, passed away on December 26, 2020 at the age of 82.
Mary Ellen was born on December 20, 1938 and raised on Long Island, New York by her parents William and Margret Smith. Her first husband, Dennis Hickey, passed in December 1992. She graduated from the New York State Empire State College at the age of 70 with a degree in English Literature and a minor in Foreign Studies. Beside being a world traveler, Mary Ellen loved her golden retriever dogs. She was very active in pet therapy especially Long Island Jewish Medical Hospital and at the Holbrook Public Library. She continued pet therapy when she moved to Aiken. She also did obedience training with her dogs which earned titles. In addition she was very active in her church, Sweet Hollow Presbyterian in Melville, serving terms as an Elder and Deacon.
In addition to her husband George, she is survived by her son Edward Scott Hickey of Georgia, two grandsons, Brandon and Matthew, two granddaughters, Alyssa and Jenna, two great-granddaughters Lilith and Alexandra of Champaign, IL, and her sister, Carol Kiernan of Aiken. She was predeceased by her parents and her son Robert Hickey.
A brief memorial service was held at George Funeral Home in Aiken, followed by services at Wagners Funeral Home in Plainview New York and burial at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
