Mary Crase Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Mary Sue Crase, on September 5th, 2025. Sue was born in 1946 to Obie and Ida Keith and grew up in a rural farming area in southeastern Kentucky, along with her five siblings. She graduated from Wayne County High School in Monticello, KY and attended Berea College. This is where she met Kenneth Crase who would become her spouse of 61 years. She completed her education with a degree in home economics and sociology at Judson College in Alabama, and she initially worked as a social worker. The family moved to California in 1975, where Sue flourished as a real estate broker. In 1981, the family came to North Augusta, where Sue owned and ran a successful real estate appraisal company, retiring in 1997. "Nana" will be remembered as a strong, smart, energetic and accomplished woman; she had endless love and devotion for all of us. Grandchildren had a special place in her heart, and she spent most of her time in the latter years helping care for and nurture them. She was extraordinary at this role, which she greatly cherished. She also spent time with a great group of friends, playing bridge, tending to her flowers and reading. She was a lifelong beach lover, and she spent as much time as possible with her toes in the sand. Sue is survived by her husband, Kenneth Crase, her children Valerie Scholovich (Peter) and Teddie Crase (Zoila), and her grandchildren Nicholas Scholovich, Benjamin Scholovich (Hayley), Jack Scholovich, Jenna Rouleau (Evan), and Keith Crase, along with step grandchildren Justin Wilson, Ana Metz, Paola Garcia, and great step grandson, Oliver. All who loved Sue will hold her in their hearts forever. We were all so blessed to have her in our lives. The family will welcome friends at their home Saturday afternoon, September 20th from 3 until 7PM.
