Mary Corley Cato
Eureka - Entered into rest Sunday March 9, 2013 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, Mrs. Mary Corley Cato age 83, wife of the late Mr. Ralph Eugene Cato, Sr. and daughter of the late Mr. Oscar Parker Corley and the late Mrs. Irene Steele Corley Gingrey.
Services and burial will be held private.
Mrs. Cato was a native of Lexington County, SC and Had made Aiken County her home for most of her life. She was a supervisor in circulation for the Aiken Standard retiring in 1990 with over 20 plus years of service. Mrs. Cato had a love of her family, and friends. She was an avid story teller. Mrs. Cato knew the old history that made up Aiken, SC, and for that reason, and on other subjects she was always known as "a seeker of knowledge". Because of the love she had for people she enjoyed her life to the fullest. Mrs. Cato was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph Eugene Cato, Jr. Beaufort, Charles (Paula) Cato, Aiken; two daughters, Cindy (Randy) Whitt, Aiken, Vera (Michael) Evans, Sparta, GA; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Cato was also predeceased by two grandsons, Jeremy L. Cato, Bubba Burns, and one sister, Rebecca C. Johnson.
The family suggest that memorials be made to the Salvation Army Aiken Chapter, P.O. Box 439, Aiken, SC, 29802.
A visitation with the family will take place 6-8 pm Friday, March 14, 2014 at COLE FUNERAL HOME 1544 UNIVERSITY PARKWAY (118 BY PASS) AIKEN, SC, 29801. 803-648-7175.
