Martha Rogers Obituary

Mrs. Martha Sadler Rogers
NORTH AUGUSTA, SC - Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Sadler Rogers, 78, of Oakhurst Drive, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest November 23, 2014, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Fairview Presbyterian Church. Dr. Robert F. Fuller, Jr. and Dr. G. Daniel McCall officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Park.
A native of Anderson, SC, Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of the late Frank and Belle Sadler and had made North Augusta her home for the past 49 years. She was a graduate of Girls High, Anderson Jr. College, Winthrop College, and the University of South Carolina where she earned her Masters degree. Mrs. Rogers was a Home Demonstration Agent in Spartanburg County and Administrative Assistant to the University of South Carolina presidents Dr. Robert Sumwalt and Dr. Thomas Jones. She was a secretary at North Augusta Senior High under James O. Martin and retired from Aiken Technical College where she taught English, Shorthand, Keyboarding, and Medical Terminology. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of Martha Circle and formerly taught 3rd Grade Sunday School and Pioneers. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (International Society for Key Women Educators) and Jr. Garden Club of North Augusta; taught English as a second language at First Baptist Church of North Augusta; and worked as a Pink Lady at University Hospital.
Martha Rogers was quick with a smile, which was recognized by all, and she saw the positive in all people and situations. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her sister, Louise S. Hopkins of Pendleton, SC.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, J. Frank Rogers, Jr.; a son and his wife, George F. and Gay Rogers, Fayetteville, GA; a daughter and her husband, Sarah R. and Billy Young, Weston, FL; and two grandchildren, Frank and Alex Rogers.
Pallbearers will be Dick Day, Lee Deason, Jim Martin, Bobby Hoover, Brent Cocoros, and Steve Rogers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening from 5 to 7.
