Ms. Marlene was a special person, she shared herself with every child that came her way. She was warm and sweet and fun. She was the one who everyone went to for advice and she always helped even if it wasn't what you expected. Her love touched many lives that were growing up in Gentilly. She lives forever in the memories of the people left behind. All my love &prayers to the family.

My heart is breaking.... I met the Saba's as a young girl in 1970 and have always loved them as family. Miss Marlene was more than a coach, adopted mother and friend to me (and Susan). She was a loving wife to one of the best Dad's I know, and a loving mother to three wonderful children. I have only seen her a few times in the past thirty years, but knowing her and Mr. Ronnie as a young person, has been a true blessing. I love you all and I pray for strength for you all to somehow deal with this tremendous loss.

Dear Ronald and family,
I was so sad to hear about Marlene passing. I will be upholding you in my prayers. I wanted to make sure you knew how much I love you and wish I could be there, but just can't get it arranged. You and Marlene hold such a special spot in my heart. You have always been a special part of my life from the time I was born till I married. May God comfort your heart in this time of grief. Love ya, Myrtle the Turtle :)

Such a special lady. Miss Marlene is the reason I am the mother I am today. She was loving & kind and an awesome mother. I can see her now standing in the ballpark in shorts with those beautiful legs and hair to die for. And standing next to her was Miss Odelle. They are together now reminiscing about the good ole days. Sheila is such a good daughter. Mr. Ronnie (Hamburg!) you are in my thoughts. Love ya'll. XOXO
