Graniteville - Mark Steven Yon, age 60 of Graniteville, SC entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 20, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Gunter Yon; mother, Peggy Davis Yon of New Holland, SC; daughter, Shelly Yon of Graniteville, SC; son, Joshua (Samantha) Yon and granddaughter, Emmy Yon of Beech Island, SC; brother, Earl Stanley (Joyce) Yon and sister, Ann Yon (Rick) Stoker of New Holland, SC; father-in-law, Rev. James N. Gunter, Jr. of Aiken, SC. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Yon; mother-in-law, Gail Gunter; sister-in-law, Doris Gunter; and brother-in-law, Russell Gunter.
Mark was born and lived his entire life in Aiken County, SC and was a loving father, son, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He was an employee at AGY for over 30 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Graniteville, SC. Mark was not a complicated man and enjoyed the simple things in life, such as watching his Soaps, playing with his grandbaby, and taking care of his family and friends. As those close to him know, he was always calling to check up on the people he cared about whether they were family, widows or elderly in the church, or friends. He truly knew what it meant to show the love of God to others. Mark touched so many lives with his loyalty, love, and caring spirit and he will be missed by so many people.
A private, family graveside service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Historic Graniteville Cemetery. A service, celebrating his life and home going, will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Graniteville at a later date. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P. O.
