Marion McGee Obituary

Mr. Marion Willis McGee, 95, beloved husband of sixty-nine years to Barbara Tucker McGee, entered into rest in the comfort of his home on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Born in Clearwater, SC, on August 23, 1929, he was the son of the late Walter Marion and Pearl Johnson McGee. Mr. McGee was a lifelong resident of the area. Along with his wife of sixty-nine years, Mr. McGee is survived by his three children, Deborah McGee, Paul McGee, and Cynthia (Steve) Shelton, a granddaughter, Michelle (Travis) Fowler, great-grandchildren, Jaxon Fowler and Abby Fowler, a sister, Neely Cotton, and several nieces and nephews, Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Justine Lowe and Lettie Hurst. Mr. McGee was a member of Clearwater First Baptist Church, Clearwater, SC. He proudly and with great honor served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked in the construction industry and retired as a Long-Distance Truck Driver. He was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in the former Albert Pike Masonic Lodge, Langley, SC, on November 26, 1971, and later became a Shriner in the Jamil Shrine Temple. Mr. McGee enjoyed being outside, hunting, bird watching, collecting various things, and Atlanta Braves baseball. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and enjoying good food. On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, a Celebration of Life Service will be held at noon at Clearwater First Baptist Church, Clearwater, SC. The family will receive family and friends at 11:00 a.m. Pastors Bear Grant, and Charlie Crews will officiate. Memorials in memory of Mr. Marion may be given to Clearwater First Baptist Church.
