WILLISTON - Funeral services for Marion Clyde Martin, 85, of Williston, SC will be held at eleven o'clock a.m., Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Elko Baptist Church with the Reverends Tom Baker and Charlie Bowen officiating; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m. Wednesday at Folk Funeral Home, Williston. Memorial contributions may be given to Elko Baptist Church, P.O. Box 277, Elko, SC 29826. Mr. Martin passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018.
Born in Blackville, SC, he was a son of the late Victor B. Martin and Purnell Still Martin. He was first married to the late Mary Hiers Martin and was the widower of Glenda Bell Martin. He was a member of Elko Baptist Church for over sixty years, where he had served as a deacon, church treasurer, chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee, chairman of the finance committee and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He worked at E. I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant from 1951 until he retired in 1989 as an Area Manager. He also worked in E&I as a mechanic and supervisor. Mr. Martin retired as Colonel from the S.C. National Guard after 38 years of service; he also served as commander of the S. C. National Guard Training Facility at Fort Jackson.
Survivors include his son Bruce Martin; a daughter and son-in-law Karen and Andy Turner all of Aiken; grandchildren Alyssa Martin, Carley (Zach) Adams, Melody, Drew and Ali Turner; sisters Brenda (Steve) Harp of Rome, GA; brothers Rommie (Frances) Martin of Barnwell, Jennings (Eula Faye) Martin of Blackville; sisters-in-law Helen Martin of Barnwell and Doris Martin of North Augusta. He was preceded in death by a sister Emily Morris and brothers Bobby and Victor (V.B.) Martin.
