Marie Simpson
Aiken, SC - Mrs. Marie Parsons Simpson, 81, beloved wife of Leland Frank Simpson III, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at her home.
Born in Maysville, NC, Marie was a daughter of the late Joseph Robert and Rachel Elizabeth Provow Parsons. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, beloved grandmother, fun-loving traveler, and enjoyed gardening, walking on the beach, and talking & laughing with family & friends. She worked 15 years for DuPont at SRS before retiring, and was an active member at St. Paul United Methodist Church of New Ellenton and the church's UMW Joy Circle.
In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by a daughter - Missy (Barry) Norvell, Aiken; two sons - Mark (Patty) Stamey, Anderson, SC and John (Cinda) Stamey, Roswell, GA; stepdaughter - Susie (Robert) Thompson, Aiken; stepson - Jonathan Simpson; grandchildren - Abigail (Mike) Sullivan, Matthew Stamey and Elizabeth Stamey.
She was preceded in death by husbands Claude Richard Stamey, Jr. and Amos Jones Renwick; sisters - Eunice Irene, Mary Oleta and Janice Leavonne; brothers - Robert Bender, Randolph Etheridge, Calvin Bryan, Marvin Alvin, Harris Eugene and Jerrell Malcolm; and a stepson - Lee Simpson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 600 Main Street South, New Ellenton, SC 29809 or to a charity of one's choice.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with The Rev. Robert Reeves and The Rev. Mike Bruce officiating. A private interment will follow in the church cemetery and the family will then receive friends in the Family Life Center at the church.
