Margaret Glisson Obituary

Mrs. Margaret Key Glisson, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. She was born on August 13, 1944, in Aiken, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Joe Louis Key and Gertrue Julia Dudley Key. Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Francis "Gene" Glisson; her daughter, Bonnie Bradley; and two daughters-in-law, Ramona Glisson and Chantay Glisson. A member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Aiken, SC, Margaret was a homemaker who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sharing lunches with her church friends, playing board games, and reading novels. Throughout her life, Margaret selflessly dedicated herself to her family. She supported her husband during his military service, raising their seven children through many moves and life transitions. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her love for animals was well known among those who knew her. Margaret is survived by her loving children: • Julianne Smith (Gary) of White Pine, TN • Ann Royal (John) of Beech Island, SC • Rodney Glisson (Tracie) of Lexington, SC • Timmy Glisson of McAlpin, FL • Michael Glisson (Karen) of Beech Island, SC • Donnie Glisson (Tonia) of Aiken, SC She also leaves behind a lasting legacy of 26 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of extended family members and friends who will remember her with love, admiration, and gratitude. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 3079 Old Powderhouse Rd, Aiken, SC 29803. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Dewayne Anderson officiating.
