Magdeline Widener Obituary

Mrs. Magdeline N. Widener, 79, of Langley, SC, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, while in the comfort of the home of her daughter, Pam Cook. Mrs. Widener, the wife of the late Goldie "Junior" Widener for over 55 years, was the mother of Pam (Jason) Cook, Glenn (Kim) Widener, Allen (Samantha) Widener, and Debbie Widener.
A lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, Magdeline was the daughter of the late Morgan and Bertha Lee Wood Keenan. After the passing of her mother at the age of three, her father remarried, and Magdeline was raised by her stepmother, Mrs. Minnie Keenan.
Magdeline was employed by King Mill in Augusta, GA, for 28 years. She was an active and dedicated member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and cherished her Christian faith and her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Magdeline and Junior each had a deep love of music, managing and operating weekly events at the Carolina Jamboree for many years. Magdeline loved to sit and sing along with Junior and his bandmates as they played, whether in the living room of their home, at an event, or at a venue where they were asked to play.
Magdeline also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and painting. She made the ordinary feel extraordinary through a warm meal, a clean home, or a soft place to land when life became too much. She had a way of giving that wasn't about the item, but the heart behind it. Every gift she gave carried her thoughtfulness, her love, and her unmatched ability to make others feel special.
Magdeline enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Randy Wheeler, Lena (Chuck) Morris, Magen (John) Garlick, Amber (John) Perara, Matthew Widener, Brooke Widener, Brayden Widener, and her 11 great-grandchildren.
Along with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Magdeline is survived by siblings, Margaret Odom, Peggy (Steve) Hicks, and Mary Lee (Daryl) Opalewski, as well as other relatives.
Also preceding Magdeline in death were a grandson, A.J. Widener, a great-granddaughter, Samia Widener, and siblings, Marvin Keenan, Melvin Keenan, M.D. Keenan and Gene Ray Keenan.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Sunday, December 7, 2025, beginning at 2 pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Bath, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 pm at the church. Dr. Harold Herd will officiate. Interment will follow in the Langley Cemetery, Langley, SC. Pallbearers will be Donald Keenan, Kevin Keenan, Marvin Keenan, Eddie Willing, Russell Smith, Andrew Fore, and Honorary Pallbearer Billy Fore.
Considering her love for her church, memorial donations in her honor may be given to Pine Grove Baptist Church.
