Lucius Corley Obituary

Lucius J. "Luke"
Corley, Sr.
GRANITEVILLE, SC - Mr. Lucius J. "Luke" Corley, Sr., age 86, of Graniteville, S.C., loving husband for 65 wonderful years to Adine Allmond Corley and son of the late Frank P. Corley and the late Pearline Storey Corley, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Cathy (Monty) Murrell of Aiken, S.C., Sarah Merkle of Tennessee and Lynn (Jim) Adams of Monetta, S.C.; a son, Lucius Jerry (Sherri) Corley, Jr. of Graniteville, S.C.; eight grandchildren, fifteen great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was born in Graniteville, S.C. and has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was retired from the Gregg Divison of Graniteville Company with over 40 years of service, GVW Fire Department, a retired Security Guard, and he also served in the National Guards. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a wonderful man who was always loving and always loved by everybody. He shall be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during the 86 precious years that God granted him on this earth; however, there is a consolation in knowing that we can one day see him again. He has finished life's journey and is now at peace with his Maker, the Lord, Jesus Christ. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Friday evening, January 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A service, celebrating his life and home going will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Eddie Moyer and Rev. Clint Jackson officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. Members of the GVW Fire Department will serve as Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the organization that was dear to his heart; the GVW Fire Dept., Graniteville, S.C. Napier Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Main St., Graniteville, S.C. 29829 in charge of the funeral arrangements.

I only recently got to meet Mr. Corley in the past few months working with Meals on Wheels thru Bridgestone. Shannon and I would always try to stay a few extra minutes to just visit. He shared many wonderful stories with Shannon and me about his deep love of his wife. He would always tell us he ran her off with a stick, and she would always pop around the corner shaking her head. We will dearly miss Mr. Corley. We will pray for Mrs. Corley and the family. Please know that in just a few short months he touched the hearts of the Business Assistants here at Bridgestone.

Mr. Corley, you were one of the sweetest, funniest men I have ever met. We will miss your smiling face and the obvious love you felt for your sweet wife. They don't make men like you anymore. Enjoy Heaven, Mr. Corley!!

Lynn we are truly sad to hear about your father. Just know that he is in our Saviour's arms. I am sure your father is completely awestruck by all that he sees and hears. The glorious sounds of the saints and angels praising and folks that have been waiting to see him. We love you and have you and your family in our prayers.
