Lorraine Stuckey Obituary

North Augusta, SC - A Memorial Mass for Lorraine Douglas Stuckey, 70, who entered into rest on July 23,2025, will be held on Saturday, August 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with Rev. J.Antony Gaspar officiating. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., both at the church. Born on June 30, 1955, in Astoria, Oregon, Lorraine was the daughter of the late William Isaac and Dorothy Gary Douglas. Raised in a military family, she lived in several states before attending Syracuse University, where she studied business and architecture, later completing her degree at the University of Maryland. She also earned an art certificate from Cornell University and held certifications in computer graphics. A lifelong educator and woman of faith, Lorraine taught both religious education and early childhood education in multiple communities. She served in parish catechetical roles at St. Michael's Church in Cary, NC, and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, where she also sang in the choir. She taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School, and occasionally assisted in middle school classrooms. Her dedication to students and Catholic education was recognized with the Golden Apple Award in the Central Savannah River Area. Lorraine was also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Pilot Club. She had a deep love for art, architecture, Tai Chi, and was a passionate advocate for brain health and pulmonary hypertension awareness. Her journey took her from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., then to Cary, NC, before making North Augusta her home for nearly 20 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Louis Stuckey. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Douglas "Dodger" and Shannon Bridget Stuckey; her brother, William Douglas; and extended family across the Carolinas, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C. Memorials may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 1121 14th Street NW, Suite 150, Washington, D.C. 20005 or phassociation.org/donate.
