Aiken - Mrs. Lois Dickson Henry, 92, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Westminster Rehab.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Born and reared in Orangeburg, SC, Mrs. Henry was the daughter of the late Howard L. Dickson, Sr. and the late Elise Stroman Dickson. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh E. Henry; her sisters, Gladys Dickson Mappus, Helen Dickson Garrett and Mildred Dickson Summerville; and her brother, Howard L. Dickson, Jr. She graduated from Orangeburg High School, attended and took graduate courses at the University of South Carolina in Columbia and received a BS degree from Winthrop College.
She taught many years in Aiken County Public Schools and parochial schools. She was a member of Henry Middleton DAR, the Wow Group, Red Hat group, Garden Club, Winthrop Daughters, Town and Country Club and a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Aiken where she was a member of the Tuesday Club.
Surviving are her two daughters, Caron Henry (Wayne) Temples and Lisa Henry (Russ) Rumford; her grandchildren, Dawn T. (David) Knopff, April T. (Jonathan) Gill, Lindsey (Kyle) Childers and Brantley Rumford; and five great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her many friends who knew her.
The family would like to thank the neighbors and friends of Aiken, Audry Hanna of Aiken, Right at Home of Aiken, Westminster Health and Rehab and Providence Care Hospice, both of Rock Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Henry's name to First Presbyterian Church 224 Barnwell Ave. NW, Aiken, SC 29801 or a charity of one's choice.
