Linda was a blend of many virtues. She was extremely smart, wise beyond her years, giving, and humble.
Before I got to know her, I thought she was a "book worm," because she kept a serious look on her face. She had a reputation of being a "straight A student." She had her priorities in order.
One night, in the dormitory, she knocked on my door and asked, "Would you like to have some pizza?" She had been to Pizza Hut. I ate some pizza with her, and this was the beginning of our friendship. We went to many restaurants together.
After I got to know her, I found her to be very fun loving and "down to earth." She loved to laugh! After graduation, she accepted a job in another state. When she came to Atlanta, she spent weekends with my roommate and me.
I traveled to Thomaston, her hometown, with her and her mother cooked us fried tripe and grits for breakfast. It was delicious! Her mother was very sweet too.
Linda was very loyal to the people in her life. I had a date with a guy, and needed something to wear. She let me borrow something from her closet. When BJ was pledging Kappa, she collected money for him. When we were having a "girls´ night out," one of her friends did not have any money, and Linda paid her way for her. When we went to Thomaston, Linda took her sister´s 2 kids to McDonalds. That is who she was.
Now she is absent from the body and present with the Lord. Remember, death has no sting, and the grave has no victory. When I hear the song, "Oh Very Young," by Cat Stevens, I will think of her.
