Linda Brown Deal Obituary

Ms. Linda Maxine Brown Deal, 63, of Bath, SC, entered into rest peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2025. A lifelong area resident, she was the daughter of the late Jimmie Edward and Lois Cherry Smith. Linda was a graduate of LBC High School. She began her career as a Machine Operator at the Warren Division of the Graniteville Company. She later became employed by the Gregg Division of the Graniteville Company. Like many who were employed by Avondale Mills, the former Graniteville Company, she was forced into retirement at 0239 on January 6, 2005, following the Graniteville train disaster. Linda was known for her willingness to help others and her kind and caring nature. She always cared for the less fortunate, often going without to help others. She enjoyed gardening and horseback riding. However, nothing brought her more joy and happiness than spending time with her family. She treasured every moment spent with them. Linda is survived by her children, Jonathan Logan (Esther Teresa) Deal, and Laura McKee; siblings, Bridget Sanchez and Jimmy (Wendy) Smith; grandchildren, Whitney, Max, Kara and Braylian; nieces and nephews, Joey, Dewey, Adam, Miranda, Joanne, Cheyenne, Christopher, Roland, Jimmy, Tyler, and Taylor; great nieces and nephews, Dylan, Riley, Michael, Brayden, Leif, Graycen and Sloane; as well as other relatives and friends. Also preceding her in death was her biological father, Bobby Laverne Brown and a brother, Joey Laverne Brown. Friends will be greeted by the family on Friday, October 24, 2025, beginning at noon at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Mike Bledsoe will officiate. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery, Langley, SC. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Christopher, Roland, Jimmy and Dylan Sanchez, Tyler Langley, and Joey Brown. Considering Linda's love for animals, especially dogs, memorials in her memory may be given to the Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare.
