Letha Lorene Peterson
AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Letha Lorene Peterson, age 84, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Home.
Mrs. Peterson was born February 15, 1931 in Henderson, Texas to the late Troy Verdell Skinner and the late Cora Jane Lauderdale Skinner. She had made Aiken, SC her home since 1952 where she worked for the Aiken County Hospital as a Ward Clerk and later for the Aiken County Public Library. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aiken.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ruth Kellis, Myrtle Sue Davis, Theta Perry, and a brother, Troy Skinner, Sr.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Doyle Edward Peterson; a daughter, Brenda Chaplinsky (John), Raleigh, NC; a son, Glen Peterson, Aiken, SC; four grandchildren, Sonya White (Thayer), Portland, OR, Tanya Salter (Ro), Raleigh, NC, Laura Spencer (Jeremy), Souderton, PA; Jonathan Chaplinsky, Portland, OR; four great-grandchildren, Lila White, Cole White, Anderson Salter, and Ethan Spencer; and a sister, Emily Weisman, Orange, TX.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM (today) Saturday, January 23, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Pastor Jeff Erbskorn will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Private family interment will be at a later date in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
The family would like to thank Trinity Lutheran Home and Regency Hospice for the love and care shown to Mrs. Peterson.
