Leslie E. King, Jr.
AIKEN, SC - Leslie Ernest King, Jr., 87, beloved husband of Mattie Brown King, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at his residence.
A native of Springfield, MA, Les was a son of the late Leslie Ernest King, Sr. and Mary Cecilia Bailans King. He was a retired data processing manager for the Maryland State Department of Transportation. Les lived in Aiken for the last 20 years and was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He also volunteered for Christ Central.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Mattie, include two sons, Alan King (Dora), Trinity, FL, Stephen King (Donna), Aiken; three grandchildren, Christopher King, Jessica Bullard, Stephanie Oprea; six grandchildren, Finn Oprea, Ryder Oprea, Kristina King, Saniya King, Keira Bullard, Kyle Bullard; a sister, Gloria Sauter (Charles), California, MD.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, January 14th at 11 o'clock at St. John's United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception in Ward Hall immediately following the service. The Fellowship Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St., NW, Aiken, SC 29801
