Larry G. Boyd, Sr.
AIKEN - Larry G. Boyd Sr., 75, beloved husband of Melanie Courtney Boyd, died Friday, April 6, 2018 at University Hospital, Augusta, GA.
A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Larry was a son of the late Ralph Hastings Boyd and Minnie Lee Jewel Proctor Boyd. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass. Larry loved fishing, shrimping and gardening and was an avid beekeeper. His greatest love was his children and grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Melanie, include three children, Larry Garland Boyd, Jr. (Gwen), Langley, Allyson Lee Boyd, Edgefield, Courtney Lauren Parrott (Coly), Columbia; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph Boyd, Aiken, Paul Boyd (Vicki), Aiken. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dylan Lee Fookes, a sister and two brothers.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon, April 9th beginning at 3 o'clock at Talatha Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 4 o'clock. The Revs. Jordan Bird, David Little, David Lester and Jimmy Rivers will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Porter, Billy Key, Eddie Hair, Kenneth Martin, Bill Courtney and Dwayne Courtney.
