I miss my brother. We were only 10 years apart but close as I grew up and although I relocated, he remained dear to me and our relationship.
Love ya Bro!

Mr. Bonnette sold my family my first flute, in 1967. The installment payments - ten whole dollars a month! - made it possible for us to afford such a precious thing, and for me to become a musician in the Arabi Elementary beginner band. The night he delivered it, he respectfully showed me how to assemble it, how to care for it, and how to keep it safe. It was the most beautiful thing Id ever owned. I was so excited I couldnt sleep for hours. Fifty years later, and three flutes later, Im still a musician. Not a great one. But music is still a big part of my life, and he helped make that possible.

Josie, I am sorry for the loss of your father. His music store was the go-to place for band students in St. Bernard Parish.
I'll keep him and your family in my prayers.

As a sophomore in high school, I was looking for wheels. One of the skills I had was music. I applied for, interviewed and started my job at Bandwagon Music then. Mr. Kirby and his brother Louis (L.A.) taught me how to repair all the band instruments over the years. I also taught many students trumpet, guitar and music lessons through my college years there as well. To this day, I still apply what I learned about business and customer service from Mr. Kirby. Thank you for your service to the country and to the arts. God bless and rest in peace Sir.
