Kenneth Townsend Obituary

Pastor Kenneth Mark "Kenny" Townsend, 65, loving husband, dad, pop-pop, and preacher, went Home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family and friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Pastor Kenny was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, to the late Daniel E. and Lois Elaine Townsend. He answered the call to ministry at a young age and devoted his life to preaching the gospel and teaching the Bible. For 23 years, he faithfully served as a pastor and was widely known as a preacher of preachers-a man of deep conviction, unwavering faith, and lover of God's Word. The verse you would find following Pastor Kenny's signature that he loved was Mark 5:19, "...Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee." Though our hearts grieve, we rejoice in knowing Pastor Kenny's faith has become sight as he is now in the presence of the Savior he so passionately served and preached about-hearing the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Whether he was preaching to hundreds, teaching a class, or sharing his favorite lesson from Pilgrim's Progress, Pastor Kenny's heart was always focused on pointing others to Christ and being your friend. He mentored countless pastors, young men in the ministry, and trained hundreds of children, not only academically but spiritually, that are grateful for Pastor Kenny's investment in their lives. Pastor Kenny had a servant's heart in every sense of the word. He labored tirelessly behind the scenes, doing the quiet, often unnoticed work-always with a humble spirit and a heart that simply wanted to serve the Lord and others. But perhaps what most people remember about Pastor Kenny was how genuinely "real" he was. Whether you were a child, a senior saint, a stranger, or a struggling friend-he made time for you, listened without judgement, and made you feel seen, heard, and loved. Pastor Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Debbie Townsend, and their children: Rev. C.T. Townsend (Becky), Rev. Bryan Townsend, Mindy Hodges (Jarrod), and Kokomo Townsend; and five precious grandchildren: Tucker Townsend, Syler Townsend, Everlee Townsend, Ellianah Townsend, and Brayden Hodges; his sister, Sandra Thompson; and his brother-in-law, Bobby Manley; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sisters, Mike Townsend, Wanda Townsend, and Sheila Manley, as well as his precious grandson, Cashton Townsend. What a reunion this must be! His love for people was matched only by his love for his family. Pastor Kenny cherished spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. The full impact of Pastor Kenny's life will never be fully measured on this side of Heaven. Only eternity will reveal the lives changed, the broken restored, the young men called, and the countless souls led to Jesus because of his faithfulness. He leaves behind a legacy of truth, compassion, and servant-hearted leadership. A service celebrating the life of Pastor Kenny Townsend will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Victory Baptist Church, 620 West Martintown Road, North Augusta, SC 29841. Pastor Kenny will be placed in the church from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, with the family receiving friends beginning at 12:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, officiated by his sons, Revs. C.T. and Bryan Townsend, along with Rev. Ralph Sexton, Jr. of Asheville, NC. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta, SC. -- To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Reverend Kenneth "Kenny", please visit our floral store.

My husband and I relocated to North Augusta, S.C. four months ago. We've been attending Victory B.C. We heard of Pastor CT father's transition in the Sunday, 6/29/25 service. We did not know Pastor CT's father. One thing we do know is that the legacy has been passed along as we listen to Pastor CT. Our prayers will continue to be with the family.

Never met this great man, and I´ve never met his son CT but every week, usually everyday I listen to his messages on you tube and I have heard him speak of his life growing up with a Christian family in a single wide trailer, the stories he shares of "the shoe" and others bring joy to my life, lift me up on dark days and I´m so thankful for the opportunity to hear CT share the divine word of God. I will be praying for all of the family during this difficult time, and will continue asking God to touch your hearts as only he can, lift you up and let you have joy in the memories you hold so dear. God bless you.
