Rev. Kenneth W. Garvin
GRANITEVILLE - Reverend Kenneth W. Garvin, 67, beloved husband for 46 years to Mrs. Robin Reames Garvin, died peacefully after a brief illness, on Saturday, December 16, 2017, with his wife and daughter at his side.
Born in Augusta, Georgia, Ken was a graduate of Langley Bath and Clearwater High School, Anderson College, University of South Carolina - Aiken and he received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary. He pastored Marion Street Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, First Baptist Church of Castle Hills, Azle, TX, Open Door Baptist Church, Augusta, GA, Lakeview Baptist Church, Lenox, GA, Sweetwater Baptist Church, Thomson, GA and currently served as pastor at Langley First Baptist Church, Langley, SC where Ken was baptized at the age of 10. During his ministry, Ken served as the Associational Director of the Kilpatrick Association, on the Nominating Committee for the Aiken Baptist Association, the Georgia State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention and he was a member of the Midland Valley Lions Club. Throughout his life, Ken was an avid reader, enjoyed playing a round of golf and following college football - especially the Georgia Bulldogs but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Robin Reames Garvin, Graniteville, SC, family members include his mother, Gerry Garvin (the late H.A, Jr), Langley, SC, his daughter, Monica Garvin Wells (Don), North Augusta, SC, his mother-n-law, Madge Lanier Reames (the late Sam) and four grandsons: Henry Samuel Wells (16), Andrew Garvin Wells (14), Jones Kenneth Wells (12) and Walker Adrian Wells (11).
The family will greet friends Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Langley First Baptist Church, 2841 Augusta Road, Langley, S.C. 29834.
A Celebration of Life Service will be on Wednesday at 2 o'clock at Langley First Baptist Church with Dr. Ronald Hasty, Rev. Steve Hartman, and Rev. Steve Batts officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.
Deacons of Langley First Baptist Church will be pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
