Kenneth Cromer Obituary

Mr. Kenneth Cromer, 91, peacefully entered into rest on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Veterans Victory House, Walterboro, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Peggy Fain Cromer, sisters and brothers: Margie Perry, Ella Hook, Elvira Lewis, Bill Cromer, James "Punk" Cromer, Ralph Cromer, Williams P. "Smiley" Cromer, Charles E. Cromer, and Albert "Toby" Cromer. The family will greet friends on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, South Carolina 29829, from 6 until 8 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 10 o'clock in the Hatcher Funeral Home chapel with military honors rendered by the United States Air Force. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, South Carolina. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post #153 and members of the Bath Fire Department. Left to cherish Kenneth's memory are his sons, Jerry Cromer and his wife, Susan, and Mike Cromer, all of Bath, South Carolina. Kenneth was born in Saluda, South Carolina, to the late James W. and Dollie Miller Cromer. He worked for Bath Mill and Graniteville Company with over thirty-five combined years of service. He proudly and with honor served his country in the United States Air Force. A true patriot, Kenneth continued to serve his fellow veterans, volunteering countless hours to grill hamburgers and hot dogs for the Veterans at the Charlie Norwood V.A. Medical Center, and was even honored as Volunteer of the Year. Always ready to help a neighbor or friend in need, Kenneth donated nine plus gallons of blood to the Red Cross and was a twenty-year volunteer with the Bath Fire Department. Kenneth treasured camaraderie with his fellow veterans and members of his community through his memberships with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post #153. He was recognized as the 1991 Citizen of the Year by the L.B.C. Lions Club. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, camping, watching war movies and John Wayne, cooking stews with the Bath Fire Department, and grilling. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post #153, PO Box 312, Langley, SC 29834.
