Katherine Vargo
New Ellenton - KATHERINE VARGO, 71, beloved wife of Michael Vargo and loving mother of Amy and Amanda Vargo, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Detroit, MI, Katherine was a daughter of the late Stanley and Frances Prus. She grew up in Lincoln Park, MI and had made her home in New Ellenton, SC since 1974. She retired from the Aiken County Public Schools and was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband Michael include two daughters, Amy Vargo and Amanda Vargo, both of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Diane Dorobek (Ron), Sharon Bowman (Joe), and Darlene Stein (the late Terry Stein and Ken Greene), all of Michigan.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held privately, Saturday morning, February 6th at 11 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. The service will be livestreamed on the Shellhouse-Rivers Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/srfhandsfh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Nikki Mitchell Foundation which provides comfort, relief, awareness and research support for those with pancreatic cancer (https://www.nikkimitchellfoundation.org/) .
