Resident of Pleasanton
Kaitlyn Mary Oefelein, 20, of Pleasanton passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. She was born in State College, PA, on June 2, 1994 to Joseph and Lisa Oefelein. She graduated from Amador Valley High School in 2012 and was currently a student at Las Positas College in Livermore, CA. She was also an employee of Safeway at the store on Santa Rita Road in Pleasanton.
Kaitlyn touched the lives of many people with gentle kindness, compassion, and a beautiful smile. She is survived by her brother, Andrew Oefelein of Pleasanton, her parents, Joseph and Lisa Oefelein of Pleasanton, and an extended family of friends and relatives who she was very close to and loved very much.
Friends and family are invited to a Visitation on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 PM with the Vigil Service starting at 7:00 pm at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St., Pleasanton. A Funeral Mass will take place the following morning on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10 AM at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church, 4001 Stoneridge Drive, Pleasanton, CA.

I remember taking English class at Las Positas College with Kaitlyn. It was my first year and meeting her in class was memorable. She had a nice smile and laughter. My deepest condolences after years. Although I didn't her after school, I'll always remember when I'd keep her company after class.

The only interaction I ever had with Kaitlyn was a pleasant one. At Safeway a couple months ago my friends and I started driving away with a drink on the roof of our car and Kaitlyn stopped what she was doing and ran up to us to let us know. She was such a sweet and friendly girl. My heart aches for the Oefelein family.
