Juanita Verenes Obituary
MARTINEZ, GA - Mrs. Juanita Fulmer Verenes, 85, widow of Mr. George Verenes, entered into rest surrounded by family on Monday, August 15, 2016, in the University Hospital, Augusta, after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held on August 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Father Vasile Bitere officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, S.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Rd.
Mrs. Verenes was a native of Ridge Spring, SC., but lived in the Augusta/Martinez area for many years. She was a long time employee of Southern Bell, a retired business owner, and a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed cooking and collecting cookbooks, and was an avid traveler.
Survivors include her son, Constantine G. Verenes (Karen), her daughter, Denise Coutsouridis (John), granddaughter, Alexia Coutsouridis, sister, Lona Proctor (Cortez), and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 953 Telfair St., Augusta, Ga. 30901

Dino, Denise and families, our hearts are heavy with sorrow. Your mom was one of my favorite people, as was your dad. Deno, Denise & Family, I will miss your mother and father as my neighbors. We enjoyed many monthly NARFE meetings sharing a meal. Please know that Juanita is and was a wonderful person, always with a smile. She is reunited with her love George and both are a peace with our heavenly father. Keep in touch.

Juanita was a true southern lady! Gracious, classy, so funny and the best cook ever! Whenever I visited Karen and Deno, usually for New Year''s Eve, there would be a table full of all the treats Juanita made and they were just wonderful! (Best rum balls ever). I loved all of her stories about how she met George and their life together. She loved him so and adored her family. I will miss her but so happy they are together! All my love, Cindy
