Joshua Gelinas Obituary
CHARLOTTE, NC - Joshua Mark Gelinas, 48, of Charlotte, NC, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 26, 2024, from a pulmonary embolism. Josh was born on October 9, 1975, to Greg and Sharon Gelinas in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
Josh fostered a love of writing and language, receiving a Bachelor's from UGA where he enjoyed a rich social life. He also received a Masters's Degree from Northeastern University.
Josh was an award-winning journalist at The Augusta Chronicle. In this time, while writing a story, Josh met his future wife, Delia. Josh cherished opportunities to dive into the stories of the people and community around him. He eventually became South Carolina Bureau Chief at the paper. He also directed communications for the SC Department of Corrections, AT&T, and Coca-Cola Consolidated, where he was Vice President of Communications in Charlotte.
Josh was a 4.5 tennis player, avid golfer, and enjoyed surfing at Pawley's Island. He had a quick wit and inquisitive spirit, and was a deeply passionate family man and father. Josh enjoyed fulfilling relationships with many communities in the city. He was deeply loved by his friends and neighbors. Josh was an active, enthusiastic member of Waypoint Church and was blessed to serve with his Waypoint brothers in Chimbote, Peru. He was a poignant listener, offering a thoughtful presence for those around him. Josh was deeply proud of Henry, Romera, and Archie and found so much joy and fulfillment in seeing them grow up. In his off time, Josh enjoyed giving back to the community through Let Me Run, First Tee, and tennis lessons for those in need.
Josh was predeceased by Zolly Gobal Tucker Jr, Mary Rose Tucker, Marcel Joseph Gelinas and Beverly Strubell Gelinas. He is survived by his wife Delia, daughter Romera, sons Henry and Archie, father and mother Greg and Sharon Gelinas, and brother and sister-in-law Patrick, Leah, and nephew Oliver Gelinas.
Josh's life will be celebrated at the Belk Chapel at Queens University on Sunday, March 3, at 2:00pm. Opportunities to provide support to the family will be shared in the coming weeks. Please also share how Josh may have influenced or impacted your life at [email protected].

I'm still in shock. Josh was always one of my favorite teammates. He was smart, kind, caring, and fun to work with. I'm so grateful to have known him. My heart goes out to his family. He will be dearly missed. RIP, Josh.

I worked with Josh at the Augusta Chronicle, where he was an excellent reporter and eventually editor of the South Carolina bureau. But more importantly, he was a great guy. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.
