Joseph M. Whitt
GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Joseph M. Whitt, age 82, of Graniteville, S.C., loving husband for 58 years to Alice "Gwen" Efird Whitt and son of the late George L. Whitt and the late Dallas Latham Whitt entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 31, 2014.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tamara Whitt Lott (Terry) Hudson; a son, George Clayton (Cindy) Whitt both of Graniteville, S.C.; a brother, Carlos (Joyce) Whitt of Greenwood, S.C.; grandchildren, Amanda (Robbie) Weathersbee, Daniel (Candace) Lott, Joseph Whitt and Allison Whitt; great grandchildren, Lawson Lott, Kerington Weathersbee and Remington Weathersbee.
He was born in North Augusta, S.C. and has been a lifelong resident of Graniteville, S.C. The family stated that it snowed on the day he was born (Mar. 9, 1932) and also snowed on the day that they made his funeral arrangements. He was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Star Lodge #99 in Graniteville, S. C. He was Past Patron Order of the Eastern Star Queen City Aiken #141. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was just a well-rounded good man who was highly respected and loved by his family and many friends. He shall be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during the 82 years that God granted him on this earth; however, death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his many friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Sunday evening, November 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service, celebrating his life, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Alan Quarles officiating. The interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park in North Augusta, S.C. with Masonic Rites The Pallbearers will be George Clayton Whitt, Joseph Clayton Whitt, Daniel Clayton Lott, Robbie Weathersbee, Terry Hudson and Martin Posey. The Masons will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
