Joseph Vitalone Obituary

OLD TOWN - Joseph A. Vitalone, 61, went to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven June 14, 2010, from complications of a stroke at a Bangor hospital. Joseph was supported by McKay Shared Living Services, Milford, and had many friends within the agency. He lived a fun and fulfilling life that included baseball games, gardening, fishing, camping, dining out and yard sales. Joseph especially enjoyed good conversation over a cup of coffee. He is survived by his loving mother, Wilma Vitalone; a half brother, Richard of Shamong, N.J.; a half sister, Patricia O'Brien of Syracuse, N.Y.; aunts, Marie Weinburger of Texas and Beatrice Sheehan of Georgia; as well as many cousins. He will be deeply missed by Alice and Kevin McKay, Melissa Reinzo, R.N., Karen Pitts, Courtney Madden-Harnum, Candi and Ed Hackett, and Patty Durkee. Joseph was predeceased by his father, Joseph Alden Vitalone Sr., in 1989. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. Burial will be with his father at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Condolences may be offered at www.kileyandfoley.com.

Joe will be missed. I had the pleasure of working with him for several years. I would never have learned to get around Bangor without him. And, if you ever wanted to know a good place to eat, Joe was the man to ask. His usual happy and social nature brought joy to many. I only found out of his passing yesterday and am sorry to have missed his service.

Joe, I am gonna miss your many visits to the University of Maine Police Department. I know how much you enjoyed riding in the police car and in the parade with me on Memorial Day 2009. I will always have your back Partner. Sgt. Deb Mitchell
