Joseph Holloway
Aiken - Joseph Holloway, age 74 was born in Johnston, SC on July 10, 1947 to Annie M. Harris Holloway and James W. Holloway.
At an early age he joined the Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Williams, where he served on the Usher Board. He also attended Sunday School at the Second Baptist Church of Aiken, SC weekly, until leaving for college, where he was also a member of B.S.A. Troop #62.
He attended the Aiken Graded School, and graduated from the Martha Schofield High School, where he played on the Basketball and Football teams. He also ran the "440" for the MSHS Rams Track team. He also graduated from Lincoln Business College, and Durham College. He served in the US Army for three years. As the first African American Investigator for Hillsborough Police Department, he retired after 25 years of service. He was also a Prince Hall Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Bernard Holloway.
He is survived by wife Glenda B. Holloway; his son, Brian (Amaris) Holloway; his sister Mary H. Davis; his brothers, Rev. Harris (Iris) Holloway, and Rev. James P. Holloway, Sr.; stepchildren, Tonya Fearington, and Tasha (Uhuru) Dawson; several grandchildren and step grandchildren; three uncles, M.C. Harris, Frank Daniels, and M. David Holloway; one aunt, Carrie Daniels; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
