Joseph Christie Obituary

North Augusta, SC....... Joseph Ryan Christie, age 39, has received the ultimate healing in Heaven after a short but brave battle with a rare and aggressive form of colon cancer. He went home to be with Jesus on August 3, 2025. Joseph was born on January 13, 1986 in Rome, Georgia to Tony and Lesha Christie. Joseph spent his younger years in Lyerly, Georgia before moving to Augusta, Georgia in 1994. He attended Westmont Elementary, Columbia Middle and Evans High School, where he graduated in 2005. He then pursued a Bachelor of Business degree from Liberty University. He married his wife, Lisa, in 2008 and they shared two beautiful children, Cate (age 14) and Cole (age 11). He was quiet yet strong, kind and sincere. He loved slapstick humor and making others laugh with his witty comments and unexpected jokes. He led and ministered to others with a humble and gentle spirit. Joseph never met a stranger and was constantly looking for ways to help and serve others. His bright blue eyes could light up a room. He was a firm believer of living life to the fullest while on this Earth-to take the risk, to follow your dreams, to work hard and to give back to others. He was a true follower of Jesus in every way-in life, in leadership, and in love. In 2016, Joseph used his entrepreneurial spirit and business knowledge to bring the Pelican's SnoBalls franchise to the greater Augusta area. At the time of his passing, he owned 5 franchise locations. In 2023, he decided to pursue his love for good coffee and founded Christie's Coffee Co, which now has two locations-North Augusta and Harlem. His legacy will live on through his small businesses as well as through his family, wife, and children. Joseph's truest and most important passion was leading worship. From a young age and through various avenues, Joseph has led thousands in worship throughout the Southeast while traveling with his Christian band. He has been a worship leader at True North Church in North Augusta since 2008, where Joseph's entire family is actively involved. The staff and community of True North Church have continued show steadfast love and care for Joseph's family during this difficult time. He leaves behind his wife, Lisa, of North Augusta, SC; their children, Cate and Cole Christie; his parents, Tony and Lesha Christie, of Graniteville, SC; his siblings, Jared Christie (wife, Cara) his nephew, Wyatt, and niece, Ann Elise, of Lexington, SC; Joy Scott (husband, Adam) of North Augusta, SC; his grandmother June Chandler of Cedartown, GA; his grandfather Jimmie Christie of Rome, GA; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins from Rome, Georgia and beyond. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Shelby Christie and his maternal grandfather, Jack Chandler. A celebration of life will be held on Friday August 8th, 2025 at 6:30 PM at True North Church in North Augusta, SC following a private graveside service and burial.
